THE STRONGHOLD

The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him. – Psalm 37:39-40 (ESV)

I think it is important to remember in this time of global concern over the spread of deadly viruses and such that our faith must first and foremost be in God. In the United States of America, the President will be addressing the public tonight at 6 PM EST in an attempt to assuage fears resulting from the spread of coronavirus to our continent. While this pandemic is not to be taken lightly, it is important to always remember that there is nothing man can do that God cannot do, but there is plenty that our LORD can do that man cannot. Prayer should always be the first thing we engage in, not a last resort.

It’s been a while…

So I am sitting here in front of my Chromebook, trying to decide what to write a post on — just for the sake of posting something! Hardly fair to any passerby who might stop to read it. Albeit, there are several topics of interest — particularly given the current political crisis in the United States with the election of a socialist a possibility and also the growing corona-virus epidemic globally. There is much someone with a biblical worldview might offer on either topic. But… I’ll stick to just one.

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
-Colossians 3:2 (ESV). The verse I have chosen to comment on would apply to either topic mentioned above. However, I will stick to the topic of the upcoming election for now. There are some that are very upset when they even consider the possibility of someone like Sen. Sanders becoming president, due to his many socialist views. To those with such concerns, let’s remember who it is that appoints rulers — and that they should focus on Him, not man’s feeble attempts to solve his own social problems. Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. -Romans 13:1 (ESV). Here is more on the topic from Peter: Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme,or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God.Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor. – 1 Peter 2:13-17 (ESV).

There is a certain comfort when one realizes they are not in control and things rest in the ever-capable hands of Almighty God. Wouldn’t you agree?
