Stay in the SHADE!

God’s your Guardian,
right at your side to protect you—
Shielding you from sunstroke,
    sheltering you from moonstroke.

-Psalm 121:5-6 (MSG)

I was thinking this morning about how hot today is going to be once again throughout the area in which I live. Of course, I shouldn’t complain about that — many have much more severe weather than we do in Connecticut. Regardless, prolonged time in the sun can lead to things like sun stroke, melanomas, painful burns — you name it. It is no wonder the psalmist (living in a very dry area of the world with extreme desert heat) chose to describe our God as One who protects us from the sun by day and moon by night. Do you have His special brand of sun screen?

Happy 4th of July!

Once again, it is that time of year when I pull out the trusty promise from 2 Chronicles 7:14: and My people who are called by My name humble themselves, pray and seek My face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land. (HCSB)

Let’s pray for this to happen. Happy Independence Day, America. Let’s make it a good one.
