The One & Only BIBLE

Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the person dedicated to God may be capable and equipped for every good work. -2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NET)

Recently, somebody posted a link on Facebook to a clip indicating that the current Pope has compared the Koran to the Bible– saying that they basically are the same thing. I really hope he has not said that (don’t believe everything you see and hear on the Internet). As a Christian, I get alarmed when I hear things like that, because they are supposedly often from influential leaders in the Christian community and blatant falsehoods.

Jesus replied, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. -John 14:6 (NET)

Jesus said He is the way the truth, and the life– and that no one comes to the Father except through Him. The Koran does not say that (to my knowledge). That is a key truth contained within the pages of God’s Holy Word, the Bible. Funny thing about truth: opposing views cannot both be true, especially when it is something as important as the truth found in Scripture.

One may call me narrow-minded in this regard, and I guess I am. Narrow is the path…

“Enter through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is spacious that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. How narrow is the gate and difficult the way that leads to life, and there are few who find it! – Matthew 7:13-14 (NET)

Part of what defines me as a Christian (a large part) is that I believe what is written in the Bible. I cannot speak to the Koran, as I have not studied it– and I do believe in tolerance of other faiths. However, my attitude should not be confused with those who cave in to whatever is popular to say at the time. I will not accuse the Pope of actually doing that, because I have not spent any serious amount of time trying to validate the comment. My only point to this post is that, as Christians, we have an obligation to stand up for the truth.
