Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you too be tempted. -Galatians 6:1 (ESV) 

Even though Christians, we can judge others and put them down, somehow unconsciously expecting to feel better as a result. Of course, inevitably, it makes us feel worse when we realize how un-Christlike that sort of behavior is. Jesus admonishes us when we fall into that behavior and offers a warning that we might fall victim to the same fate as those we might ‘sentence.’ Refer to Matthew 7 for further proof of that idea: 1 “Judge not, that you be not judged.  2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, “Let me take the speck out of your eye,” when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye. – Matthew 7:1-5 (ESV)

Better to take care of my side of the street. Often, when I do that, the other side seems to get better at the same time.
